Introduction to Pyeongchang

Pyeongchang is a county in the province of Gangwon-do, South Korea, located in the Taebaek Mountains region. Pyeongchang is about 180 km (110 mi) east-southeast of Seoul, the capital of South Korea, and connected by expressways and high-speed passenger railways. Located in the Taebaek Mountains, it covers about 60 percent of the total area, with an elevation of over 700 meters (2,300 ft). Therefore, Pyeongchang is promoting the slogan “HAPPY 700,” as a brand identity. It is a typical summer and winter resort city famous for its nearby Yongpyong Resort and Phoenix Park. Also, it is where the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics were held.

1) A flock of sheep farms in Daegwanryeong | the Alps of Korea

2) Alpensia Ski Jumping Tower | A landmark of Alpensia rated by the League of Nations

It is a four-story building starting from the first basement and uses the monorail to move to the top of the 97.7m high ski jump stand. You can experience the 25 meter skyline and ski jump-starting line, which are reserved for the national team’s players. 3) Balwangsan | A mountain full of snow

Balwangsan Mountain behind Yongpyong Resort, Korea’s largest resort, is famous for its scenic views, winter ski resorts, and surrounding scenery. Mount Balwang has no rugged paths, so anyone can climb it easily in spring and fall. However, in winter, the wind is cold and the snow is heavy, so you have to equip yourself for hiking. However, using gondola inside Yongpyong Ski Resort ( round trip 10,000 won) can easily climb.

4) Daegwallyeong sky ranch | A ranch where the sky and grasslands meet

The top of the sky ranch is fantastic. You can experience feeding and touching cows, horses, and sheep that are grazing. You can also enjoy five walking trails, valley with clear water, and waterfalls.

6) Odaesan National Park | Time travel through thousands of years of history

7) Palseokjeong | The breath of a writer carved on every eight rocks

Yang Sa-eon was attracted by the cozy and beautiful scenery of the place while serving as Gangneung officer. After that, he built a pavilion called “Fal Il-Kyung” and compose a poem on rocks. Eight rocks were named Palseokjeong because they wrote the words about Bongrae, Bangjang, and Yeongju. (Only two or three stones are left)

8) Pyeongchang trout Festival | Winter festival with snow, ice and trout

It is the first and largest trout farm in Korea, where you can enjoy fresh winter trout in Pyeongchang. And enjoy trout fishing, snow rafting, and four-wheel ATV. The festival period is 2018.12 to 2019.1.27.
